The New Year is here and it has us counting down the days until the 2020 golf season. With the holidays behind us, we thought it would be a good time to reflect on 2019 and all the great moments it brought us.
We are grateful for everyone who took part in making 2019 our best season yet, and we can't wait to make more memories in 2020!
Take a walk down memory lane with us as we reflect on our top moments from the season.
1. Cabot Goes Caribbean
In June of 2019, we were thrilled to announce our first international brand expansion – Cabot Saint Lucia.
Located on Point Hardy, a 375-acre peninsula at the northern tip of Saint Lucia, Cabot Saint Lucia will include a golf club, residential community and resort. The remarkable landscape offers stunning vistas from all areas of the resort and will host a Coore & Crenshaw designed golf course.
The luxury golf resort and residential community is scheduled to open in Fall of 2021. Until then, follow us on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter for development updates, and keep an eye on our website for Real Estate opportunities.
2. Cabot Covers
Over the course of 2019, we were very grateful to be featured in a variety of magazines, online articles, and rankings.
Among the many highlights, it was surreal to see Cabot Cliffs make the cover of four prestigious publications in just one year! From Golf.com and Catalogue 18, to ScoreGolf and Golfweek, seeing Cabot Cliffs perched proudly on the front of each magazine is something we only could have dreamed of back in 2011 when we opened our first course.
In addition to the covers, we were also proud to be included in the following lists: Golf Magazine’s Top 100 Courses in the World 2020 - 2021 (Cabot Cliffs #43, Cabot Links #82), Golfweek’s Top 25 Modern Canadian Courses 2019 (Cabot Cliffs #1, Cabot Links #2), and ScoreGolf’s Best Public Courses in Canada 2019 (Cabot Cliffs #1, Cabot Links #3). What a year!
3. Stanley Cup at Cabot
We were proud to welcome the legendary Al MacInnis and the Stanley Cup to Cabot in August.
Cape Breton born and raised, this was MacInnis’ second time winning the cup, but his first time bringing it home to Cape Breton! Though he won the cup as a defenceman for the Calgary Flames back in ‘89, he wasn’t able to make the trip to Cape Breton with it at the time. This time around, as the Senior Adviser to the General Manager of the St. Louis Blues, he was able to share the victory with his hometown of Port Hood and surrounding areas.
Given only one action-packed day with the Stanley Cup, we were beyond honoured MacInnis and his family took the time to celebrate this incredible victory alongside our staff, caddies, and guests!
4. Women's Golf Day
As an official Women's Golf Day location, Cabot joined the celebration this year by hosting our very own Women’s Golf Day event. In the spirit of growing the game, we invited women from across the province to join us for a day of golf here at Cabot. With experience ranging from beginners to decorated scratch golfers, we had a little something for everyone including two full golf clinics. For those that missed the excitement in 2019, we are greatly looking forward to expanding on the event in 2020!
Women's Golf Day is an event celebrating women and girls playing golf and learning skills that last a lifetime. A four-hour global experience, Women’s Golf Day events have been held at over 900 venues in 52 countries with participation from over 50,000 women and girls over the past three years.
5. Residences at Cabot Cliffs
We released our first 8 luxury Cliffs Residences this year, which represented the beginning of an expansive phase of growth for our real estate program and resort community.
Masterfully designed and located in the heart of Cabot Cliffs, the homesites provide stunning ocean and golf course views as well as all of the elements that make up the total Cabot experience.
Check out our Real Estate Listings for more details!
6. Private Dining
We were eager to expand upon our Private Dining Experiences in 2019. With carefully curated menus, stunning locations, and the addition of Local Music Experiences, we are thrilled with the results and look forward to expanding even further in 2020.
Ideal for groups of eight or more, enjoy a meal among friends from the comfort of your villa or take in an al fresco experience from Cabot’s outdoor firepit area or along the sandy shores of the Inverness Beach. Fresh Nova Scotia seafood, local musicians, a spectacular sunset and great company - what more could you ask for?
7. Growing the Game
One of the many ways we grow the game here at Cabot, our Future Links Junior Program is always a highlight to the season! Led by our six golf pros, there is a certain level of satisfaction that comes with introducing kids to a game they can enjoy for their entire lives, whether as a social activity, a sport, or just a way to get out and enjoy nature. An added bonus of course, is the smiling faces, giggles, and exclamations of “I did it!!” that just seem to come with the territory.
According to the kids however, post-lesson sports drinks, cookies, and sprinter rides seem to be the real draw!
8. RBC PGA Scramble presented by Lincoln Motor Company
Always one of our highlights, we welcomed teams from all over Canada for the RBC PGA Scramble Finals in October. Over 9,000 golfers participated in the events leading up to the 21-team National Final here at Cabot.
The Carman Golf and Curling Club took home the championship title, winning by an astounding 6.9 shots over the second place team, The Landings of Kingston, Ont.
9. Cabot's Hole in One Hall of Fame
We had another incredible season of hole-in-ones! With the odds of getting a hole-in-one at 12,000 to 1, we like to offer a little spotlight for those who manage to pull off the feat. Check out our Hole-in-One Hall of Fame to see the smiling faces behind the aces!
Congrats to all the 2019 Hall of Famers, we see a lot more coming our way in the year ahead!
10. Photo Frenzy
We were very fortunate to welcome a number of fantastic photographers to Cabot this season, resulting in a wide variety of new photos captured over the course of the season. To name a few, Christian Hafer, Could Be The Day, Brian Oar, Jeff Bertch, and Brian Krehbiel all graced us with their presence (and cameras) throughout the season.
We still have tons of never-before-seen photos in store, which we look forward to revealing over the winter months. Keep an eye out for our 2020 edition of #CabotPhotographyWeeks on Instagram, scheduled to start up soon!
Do any of these 2019 moments have you ready to book your 2020 trip? If so, we recommend booking as soon as possible to secure your preferred room type and tee times! We hope to see you soon!
