Giving Tuesday 2020

While the 2020 season has presented challenges for all, it has also served as a great reminder for all of us at Cabot of just how lucky we are to operate in such an amazing and supportive community. The natural beauty of the landscape and generosity of Cape Breton’s people is the foundation upon which our golf resort was built.

With the holidays around the corner, Giving Tuesday feels like the perfect time to pour a little love and support back into our community and reflect on all we have to be thankful for.

This year, we are proud to partner with a number of incredibly impactful local organizations including United Way Cape Breton, the Inverness Development Association, the Inverness Food Bank, and SchoolsPlus.

To learn more about our contributions, read the details below!

United Way Cape Breton

Having worked with United Way Cape Breton (UWCB) since 2014, we are so pleased to continue our partnership to raise funds in support of various non-profit organizations across Cape Breton Island. This year, we are donating 100 rounds of golf to UWCB for the organization to sell as a community fundraiser. United Way Cape Breton will receive 100% of the proceeds.

The goal of this program is two-fold: to raise money for United Way Cape Breton, and to make the resort more financially accessible to residents of Cape Breton. Together with United Way Cape Breton, we have raised over $70,000 since 2014. We look forward to continuing this partnership into the New Year!

The golf passes are valid at Cabot Links for the month of May, 2021.

About United Way
United Way Cape Breton works to improve lives and build community on the island of Cape Breton, by engaging individuals and mobilizing collective action. United Way Cape Breton helps meet the basic needs of our community’s most vulnerable people, giving every local member the opportunity to realize a better future.

The Inverness Development Association

While we have partnered with the Inverness Development Association on various projects over the years, we are launching a new initiative this year, to donate 50 rounds of golf for the IDA to sell to the community to raise funds. The IDA will sell tickets at a preferred community price and keep 100% of the sales proceeds to put towards various local projects.

Golf passes will be valid for the month of May, 2021. Those looking to purchase a pass can contact the IDA starting on December 2nd at ida.golf.pass@gmail.com including your name and the number of passes you are looking to purchase (up to a maximum of four).

About The Inverness Development Association
The Inverness Development Association is a non-profit community-based organization formed in 1968 with a mandate to work to improve the community of Inverness. For the past 15 years, the IDA has been instrumental in laying the groundwork and creating the infrastructure necessary to facilitate Inverness’ role as a tourist destination.

The Inverness Food Bank

To help ensure all members of the Inverness community have food on the table this holiday season and into the New Year, we are donating $2500 to the Inverness Food Bank.

We are also hosting our annual food drive in support of Feed Nova Scotia. Employees and community members who are interested in contributing can drop off non-perishable goods at the Cabot Public House. All donations will go to the Port Hood Food Bank to be distributed across Inverness county.

About The Inverness Food Bank
The Inverness Food Bank collects safe, nutritious food and redistributes it to individuals and families in the community who are experiencing food insecurity.

Cabot's Junior Golf Nomination Program

2016-08-19 03-39-46-1

We are thrilled to announce that we will be partnering with SchoolsPlus to expand Cabot’s Junior Golf Nomination Program for the 2021 season. The program expansion will offer free Cabot Junior Camp registration for up to 16 children from the local community.

Cabot’s Junior Golf Nomination Program focuses on removing financial and social barriers that prevent some youth from getting involved in the game of golf. In 2021, with guidance and support from SchoolsPlus, Cabot will reserve two free spots in each Junior Camp throughout the season for youth who would not otherwise have the opportunity to participate.

For more information or to apply to Cabot’s Junior Nomination Program, please contact Janelle MacDonnell at (902) 258-7126 or via email at Janelle.macdonnell@srce.ca.

About Cabot Junior Camps
Taught by Cabot’s outstanding team of PGA Golf Professionals, Cabot Junior Camps are developed for youth from ages 6-15 to receive instruction in all areas of the game, including basic fundamentals, etiquette and sportsmanship.

About SchoolsPlus
SchoolsPlus is a collaborative interagency approach supporting the whole child and their family with the school as the center of service delivery. Each of the Regional Centre for Education, and CSAP, have established a SchoolsPlus Advisory Committee with representation from government departments and non-government and community organizations. The purpose of the committee is to identify opportunities to enhance and expand the array of services and programs for children, youth, and their families.
