While known for its world-renowned golf, the Cabot experience extends far beyond the fairways. Located in the beautiful town of Inverness, nestled along the Gulf of Saint Lawrence and surrounded by the stunning Cape Breton landscape, Cabot is the perfect destination for the outdoor enthusiast.
In hopes of inspiring your next Cabot Adventure, we have assembled a list of some of our most popular outdoor adventures:
Hiking and Walking
Cape Breton Island is renowned as a hiker’s paradise. Explore the unique natural beauty of western Cape Breton through a variety of trails in the area. With a number of hiking and walking trails ranging from treks alongside rugged coastlines and sandy beaches, to trails featuring waterfalls and mountaintop vistas, there are plenty of options for all skill levels.
Cabot has a fleet of bikes that are available to our guests. The nearby Celtic Shores Coastal Trail provides the perfect spot to start your biking adventure. Take a spin to the nearby community of Mabou and enjoy lunch at the Red Shoe Pub. If driving back is not in the plans, we can arrange to pick you up in one of our Mercedes Sprinters. Ask one of our guest services agents to get you set up and we will get you started on your scenic tour of Cape Breton.
Blessed with a pristine beach stretching over three kilometres (two miles), an ocean with the warmest waters north of the Carolinas, and nearby lakes and rivers like the awe-inspiring Bras d’Or Lake and Margaree River, Inverness is as renowned for its water activities as it is for its golf! From swimming and tubing to paddle boarding and kayaking, there is no shortage of on-the-water adventures here at Cabot!
Due to our proximity to both the Atlantic Ocean and the Margaree River, Cabot offers a variety of incredible fishing experiences. Adventures include salmon fishing on world-famous Margaree River, deep-sea fishing on the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, or experiencing the thrill of a Tuna charter day trip. Whether you are an advanced sportsman or a beginner hoping to cast your first line, our guides will cater to your skill level to ensure you have a great time!
Boat Tours and Whale Watching
Being out on the water is one of the best ways to explore the shimmering seas, beautiful coastline, and natural wonders of Cape Breton. Inverness and the surrounding region offer a variety of whale watching and boat tours—be it by sailboat, cruiser, or even aboard a working fishing vessel. Take in the stunning sunsets and observe whales, seals, dolphins, eagles and other sea birds along with incredible coastal views. One of our most popular offerings is the Boat Tour with On Board Lobster Supper, which includes live local music, cold refreshments and full Lobster supper with all the fixings.
We hope you enjoyed exploring our Outdoor Adventures! If this list has you daydreaming of taking in all Cape Breton has to offer, be sure to include some excursions when booking your next Cabot trip!
