After an amazing summer season, fall is finally here! And while some of your may be wishing for summer to stay a little longer, we assure you, there is SO much to look forward to in a Cape Breton Fall. Epic Links golf, stunning vistas, fresh briny air, and incredible adventures make Cape Breton the ideal fall golf getaway.
Here are some of the things we are most looking forward to this fall!
1. Fall Foliage
Cape Breton is a picturesque paradise any time of the year, but it is enhanced even further when the leaves change colours. The mountains become alive with colour, lining the winding coastal roads with brilliant orange, yellow, and red hues. The beauty of the leaves takes everything to the next level. Even your drive to and from the airport will become an excursion of its own. Just don’t forget your camera.
2. Celtic Colours
For nine days in October, Cape Breton is home to a unique celebration of music and culture, when Celtic Colours presents dozens of concerts, workshops, and community events across the island. This world-renowned festival sees international performers join local artists to showcase the colourful nature of Cape Breton and its people. The festival takes place from October 5 – 13, 2018.
3. Tennis Courts
Tennis-lovers rejoice! Our newly-opened Har-Tru Clay Tennis Courts at Cabot Cliffs are sure to add some more “friendly” competition fun to your fall golf getaway. Keep an eye out for upcoming tennis events and tournaments.
4. Fall Course Conditions
You didn’t think we’d get through this list without mentioning golf, did you? Cabot Links and Cabot Cliffs are always in great shape this time of year. Not to mention, the weather offers a breath of fresh air following the summer months.

5. RBC PGA Scramble Finals
We know we aren’t the only ones looking forward to fall golf, as we’ll be welcoming teams from all over Canada for the RBC PGA Scramble Finals taking place on Oct. 10th. Local and regional qualifiers will take place in every province across Canada, with it all coming down to the 4-day-long final event here at Cabot. Following last year’s final, which concluded with a nerve-racking four-foot par putt for the win, we can’t wait to see what drama is in store for this year’s event!
6. Salmon Fishing on the Margaree
An angler’s paradise, the fall season on the world-famous Margaree River is known for Atlantic Salmon which range in size from fifteen to forty pounds. We will connect you with an experienced and knowledgeable local guide, who can give you instructions on the basics, as well as tips on the best pools. This is your chance to embark on a world-class Salmon fishing experience on Cape Breton Island.
With the mountains seemingly on-fire with colour, fall is a fantastic time to hit Cape Breton’s spectacular hiking trails. While the fall colours will enhance the view, the fresh autumn air will invigorate you with every breath.
8. Cabot Links Fire Pit
On a crisp fall evening, is there any better way to relax than sitting around a cozy outdoor fire, with a drink in hand, overlooking the golf course and watching the sun plunge into the sea? Well, this fall at Cabot, you can do just that any night your heart desires. The new Cabot Links outdoor fire pit is opening soon and will be fully decked out for the fall!
